Beginning with DATES, here is a definition of the three seasons . . .

SHOULDER SEASON (SS): May 1 up to Memorial Day Weekend
and after Labor Day thru September 30
OFF SEASON (OS): October 1 through April 30

Advance Booking and/or Extended Stay
DOUBLE SPECIAL
This Special offers you
more of a discount the longer you linger.
It applies to Reservations made at least fifteen nights
in advance of arrival date.
To secure your preferred dates
we suggest you plan as far in advance as possible.

- SPECIAL 1 -
(This is for a stay of 2 to 4 nights)
The first night is at the regular nightly rate.
The second through fourth nights are each $10 less than the first night.

- SPECIAL 2 -
(This is for a stay of 5 nights or more)
The first night is at the regular nightly rate.
Each additional night is $5 less than the night before
through the fifth night,
after which the rate of the fifth night then continues.
Example
Peak season regular nightly rate of Prairie Homestead is $115.
Therefore, in Special 2, the first night is $115;
and successive nights are $110, $105, $100, $95, $95, $95 and so on.
The average nightly rate continues to decrease the longer you linger.

MAJOR HOLIDAYS are defined for our purposes as follows:

Memorial Day Weekend (in 2010 Memorial Day is Monday, May 31)
- minimum stay of three nights at the regular nightly rate -
(You may choose Fri-Sat-Sun nights, or Sat-Sun-Mon nights;
any additional nights will be at a 10% Discount)

4th of July Week (in 2010 involves nights of July 1 through July 7)
- minimum stay of three out of the seven nights at the regular nightly rate -
(Any additional nights on either side of July 1-7 will be at a 10% Discount)

Labor Day Weekend (in 2010 Labor Day is Monday, September 6)
- minimum stay of three nights at the regular nightly rate -
(You may choose Fri-Sat-Sun nights, or Sat-Sun-Mon nights;
any additional nights will be at a 10% Discount)

STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY

Suite may be rented on a walk-in basis . . . but . . .
to guarantee Reservation for your peferred dates,
EMAIL or CALL, then:

all of one-night stay or 50% of multiple-night stay.

preferrably make deposit by MAIL via Money Order
or via Personal Check if three or more weeks out.
Mailed deposit must be received within 7 days of making Reservation.
The balance on arrival shall be paid via Credit Card, Money Order or Cash.

Cancellation Policy
You Will Be Refunded
subject to conditions and fee noted below.
If cancellation is 35 days or less before first night reserved,
YOU WILL BE REFUNDED FOR NIGHTS THAT THE SUITE IS RE-RENTED,
MINUS ADMINISTRATIVE FEE (see NOTE below).
If cancellation is 60 days or less before first night reserved
of a stay involving all or some of the days dedicated to
a Major Holiday, then the same refund policy applies as above.
If cancellation is 90 days or less before first night reserved
of a stay involving all or some of the days dedicated to
the Sturgis Rally, then the same refund policy applies as above.

NOTE - all cancellations are subject to
a $10 + tax administrative fee for each night reserved,
with a $20 + tax minimum fee, and this is reflected in the refund.

When the first day of your reservation arrives,
you are responsible to pay the balance for all nights booked
regardless of actual arrival or departure times.

Check-In 4:00-6:00 p.m.
although other times may be prearranged.

between 8:15-8:45 a.m.
ALTERNATIVE BREAKFAST ARRANGEMENT

We will let you know when breakfast is ready . . . At the time pre-determined for breakfast, the breakfast room (i.e. gift shop) will be opened to our guests. Until then you may comfortably wait for breakfast in your room or on the covered porch. Some early risers like to take a before-breakfast walk on the handy Mickelson Trail.

Please note that the full breakfast is served somewhere between 8:15-8:45 a.m. If you would need to leave earlier than that timeframe on your last morning (or any particular morning), then, with previous day notice from you, we are happy to provide some mini-muffins, whole fruit, and coffee or juice or milk to go.

If you are coming to the Hills by plane, be advised of the 40-minute to hour drive between Hill City and the Airport.

The Antiques Shop and Espresso Bar hours are typically
11:00-4:00, Monday-Saturday.
Our Guests may purchase from the Shop or Espresso Bar at other times
(subject to availability of Linda or Sam and whether the espresso machine is on).

THE ANTIQUES SHOP DOUBLES AS THE BREAKFAST ROOM. GUESTS ARE SERVED AT ANTIQUE TABLES.
These nostalgic surroundings encourage conversation and bring to mind, for many guests, fond memories.
JUICE OR MILK (CHOICE) IS SERVED PRIOR TO FOOD. (Fruit may also be served prior to other food.)
A COMPLIMENTARY ESPRESSO-BASED BEVERAGE OR TEA (CHOICE) IS ROUTINELY OFFERED TO ADULTS
DURING BREAKFAST, AFTER FOOD IS SERVED - e.g. Americano, Cappuccino, Chokecherry Latte, Mocha Polka;
or a brewed tea such as Jasmine Pearl (green), Wild Rose (white), Plum Oolong, China Breakfast (black).

Oh Pancho, how you do not know this?
Of course we take them to see Roy and Dale
at the porchero of Sam and Linda, in the mountain country,
you know, up there in the Black Heels, in Dakota Territory.

Early in the summer of 2008
Sam brought home with the groceries
two dvd sets, one set of the original 1950s Cisco Kid episodes
and the other of the 1950s Adventures of Robin Hood series.
We were well into these with our two visiting granddaughters
when one of them asked, Do you not like Roy Rogers anymore?
