This event, which took place May 10-11, 2008,
was exquisite fun for those participating.
The SALE was successful and exciting,
as the general public came nose to nose and pose to pose
with antique dealers from diverse locations.
Wheeling and dealing was in the air . . .
even to a second-grader buying a vintage necklace
with immediate plans to present it to her mom for Mothers Day!
It was a captivating parade . . .
all the while treasured antiques were brought in
by exhilarated owners, curious to hear both facts and folk lore.
Though by no stretch of the imagination an imitation of The Road Show,
this Show increased pulse rates nonetheless.
When a circa 1920 framed series of postcards depicting life passages
was carried over to the EVALUATION table,
at least one browser stood by to hear the full-formed story on the item
. . . because she had a similar framed series!
And a family heirloom 1700 period Kentucky Rifle
drew oohs and aahhs from the men folk.
Unfortunately, it was missing the original ramrod.
The owner was heard to say that he had been told
the last time they (not the present owner) saw it
the kids were playing with it.
Perhaps next time you will take part in this special event,
another tentatively being planned for November, 2008.
Whether buying . . . selling . . . or just out for gazing,
come to the SHOW for the joyful nostalgia of it.
